“Not everyone wears the same size shoe” - Saint Jeanne

The Company of Mary seeks to provide an education fitted to the needs of each person and which nurtures the development of all of his/her potential. Diversity is considered a value. This is expressed in our Centres which are inclusive and endeavour to offer equal opportunities, and where we affirm that being different, heterogeneous and diverse, in itself enriches us.

Authoritatively set forth by Jeanne de Lestonnac to be the hallmark of all Company of Mary ministries, each person must take seriously and “fulfill your name” as an “educator in the faith.” Being true to the legacy handed down to us through the Educational Project of the Company of Mary entails a commitment to the mission described therein:

“An education offered as a service through men and women educators who bear witness, by their word and life, to the values and principles we wish to inculcate. A Company of Mary educator lives his/her professionalism and vocation to service in an integrated way. The mission he/she carries out gives meaning and purpose to his/her own life, hence he/she is able to be a guide and companion for the journey. To be a Company of Mary educator is something which goes beyond a function or a task. It is, in reality, a way of embracing and transmitting life.”

The school’s mission is to provide a Christ-centered, holistic, and stimulating scholar-centered learning environment where every child can develop to his or her fullest potential. This is accomplished by employing highly motivated, deeply dedicated, well prepared, and accredited instructors who provide learners with innovative educational methodologies, assessments, and materials, all set in a quality environment and structure that directs and facilitates a strong learning process helping all of our learners realize their gifts and abilities. Great care has been taken to design a curriculum that fulfills the mission and supports the philosophy of the school. The Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School community’s shared vision is to assist our learners in developing a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, as they strive to achieve excellence in education and live a life of service according to the Gospels.

Faculty development through onsite training, webinars, inservices and seminars is implemented throughout the school year. These professional development opportunities centered on Descriptive Feedback strategies, growth vs. fixed mindset, differentiated instructional strategies, planning strategies utilizing formative assessments, S.T.R.E.A.M. integration, Standards-Based Grading (SBG) strategies and various educational trends help our school remain on the forefront of well researched educational practice and reform. When evidence indicates the need for specific professional development, based on curriculum trends, learning progressions or teacher feedback, the Learning Support Coordinator actively seeks resources and directly participates in training that will meet the needs of instructional development relating to and aligned with these needs as well as the direction set forth by the Administration and Curriculum Team. Subject area teachers are also encouraged to participate in ongoing training available through the learning platforms, namely, ConnectEd (Reading Wonders and StudySync), Pearson Realize (Digits and enVision Math), Discovery Ed (Science and Social Studies Techbooks) and supplementary adaptive learning technology such as Renaissance University (Benchmark Assessments), Schoology (Learning Management System), Nearpod and MobyMax. Faculty surveys indicate that the school is highly effective in providing regular and periodic evaluations that contribute to the teachers’ growth as educators as well as providing support and materials to effectively accomplish the instructional and learning goals of the school.

We hope this portal will provide you with resources to develop and curate your learning culture. Thank you for being an educator in the Company of Mary and for your dedication to our valued students.
