Week of October 7
Heavenly Father,
You are the source of all goodness and love.
I ask You to fill me with the fruits of Your Holy Spirit:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
Faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Make me kind to all whom I meet,
Good in my thoughts, words, and actions,
Faithful to You and to those I love,
Gentle in my dealings with others,
And help me to practice self-control in all I do.
May these fruits grow within me,
So that I may be a witness to Your love in the world,
And may Your Holy Spirit guide me always
On the path that leads to eternal life.
in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Announcements
It is essential for parents to embody the mission of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School by upholding Catholic values and adhering to the guidelines in our Parent/Student handbook. These values serve as the foundation for fostering a supportive, faith-centered community that nurtures moral development and academic excellence. By being role models, we ensure that our actions reflect the virtues of respect, compassion, and integrity that are at the heart of our Catholic identity. Adhering to the handbook’s guidelines helps maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment where all students can thrive spiritually, academically, and socially, thus contributing to the school's mission of forming responsible, compassionate individuals.
In response to this, please take a moment to submit this short survey (only 10 questions). This will be the first of a five part series of short surveys to help us better serve you as the primary educator and disciplinarian of your child(ren).
Survey: Teaching Catholic Values and Behavior (Part 1 of 5)
Please keep those affected by Huricane Helena in your payers, especially the children and teachers in North Carolina. "Across western North Carolina, schools face weeklong to indefinite closures as school leaders take stock of their buildings, contact educators and staff, and try to communicate with families—all tasks made more difficult with power outages and disrupted cell reception. In the more mountainous regions of the state, where the scale of the devastation is unfolding slowly, school districts have had an even harder time getting in touch with their students and their families." - Education Week
We ask the Lord to watch over them and everyone affected by the storm. Help them remain strong in their faith.
If you would like to help here are a couple of resources:
Orange County Academic Pentathlon INTEREST Survey
Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School proudly participates in the annual Academic Pentathlon sponsored by the Orange County Department of Education. The Academic Pentathlon prepares students for success in high school, college and careers by building 21st-century skills in communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and character. It is an exciting five-event competition for grades six, seven, and eight.
We would like to know if your 6th-8th grade child is interested in participating. Generally, the team meets once a week in the school's Library Center (and/or a designated classroom) for their coaching sessions. The coaching session is at 7 a.m. once or twice a week and may also be held after school on Friday Early Dismissal Days from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. as the competition day draws near. Participation in the coaching sessions is mandatory, so please be aware of the commitment prior to submitting the interest form.
This is an INTEREST FORM, not a Registration Form. Depending on the number of interested students and available parent coach volunteers, we may or may not be able to offer the opportunity to participate, as we need a minimum of six participants in each respective grade level and a minimum number of parent volunteers. Once we determine if there is enough interest, we will email you more information and registration details. Please note that although there may be "Interest" in participation, it will depend on the number of "Registered" participants in each respective grade level.

The month of October is Earthquake Awareness Month. Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School will particiapte in the upcoming Great Shakeout scheduled for October 17. This simulation allows us to identify areas in need of resources should a magnitude 6 or greater earthquake were to occur during the school day.
We would like to assure all of our parents that this simulation is part of our overall Safety-Security-Readiness program. As the year progresses we will have other drills and simulations to measure the school's response and preparedness protocols.

These weekend retreats is conducted by the Sacred Heart Sisters. During these days you will have the opportunity to draw nearer to our Lord Jesus through presentations, time for quiet prayer, faith sharing, and more

Football and Volleyball News
We want to thank all of the parents for their generosity and team spirit regarding treats for after-game competitions. Please keep in mind that the standing rule, which all students adhere to regarding food and drink on the Field of Dreams, applies to both athletic practices and competitions. We ask that all treats be handed out at the exit gate leading to the parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation and for being good stewards of the field, as well as great role models for your children and the opposing teams.
Winter Season - Basketball Coming Soon
We will be sending out a Basketball Interest Form in the coming weeks to identify students interested in trying out for their respective basketball teams, so that we can begin planning for the season. We hope that all 5th-8th grade students who want to learn the fundamentals, improve their skills, and participate in basketball will sign up. The season runs from November 18 through the beginning of February. We will have more information regarding practices and games, but for now we hope to see your child(ren) come out and join our Lancer Athletics Program.
If you are interested in becoming a Lancer Athletics Sponsor providing addtional uniforms, watm-ups, etc. for our teams, please email Mr. McKee ([email protected]) for information.
