Reflection
God, when the troubles of my heart are many, You are still faithful. When I am tired, overwhelmed, burnt out, or grieving, Your love still wraps around me. Thank You for showing me kindness and mercy every day. Your mercies never cease and Your steadfast love endures forever. Great is Your faithfulness! In Jesus' name, Amen
Message from our dear Sister Terry
Dear Sisters of the Company of Mary, SJDL School Parents, Students and Alumni:
I am so sorry that my departure date to Adrian, Michigan, was scheduled well in advance so I was unable to give you all the fond farewell that I would have wanted.
I cannot but express the deepest gratitude for the blessing that God has given me in the years that I was privileged to live with the Sisters of the Company of Mary in an inter-congregational community. It has been an unforgettable experience of serving in the ministry of Catholic education with the very best of religious women and men and wonderful lay collaborators in the work of love for God and others that you all do so well!
I hold in my heart, in my prayer, in my love each and everyone with whom I met in my 36-year journey in sunny California, especially once I wake up to the winters in the Mid-West. My memories of the warmth that I received from you all will be my source of relief from the cold weather for which I have come as prepared as possible…
To all the Sisters of the Company Mary and present and past annual school communities of SJDL School, Tustin, my heartfelt thanks and invitation to come visit in one of your vacation trips.
Prayerfully and gratefully,
Sister Terry, O.P.

Home and School Announcements
Welcome families...old and new! This year's theme,"Growing to Serve" is very fitting as it relates to the Home and School Association's purpose.
The Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School Home and School Association (HSA) is the organization of parents who have chosen to participate more fully in the service of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac School by organizing fundraising activities, and by providing funds that directly benefit the students, faculty, the general plant, and equipment. Examples of what the Association provides funds for include improvements to maintain up-to-date technological programs and infrastructure, physical plant maintenance, security, and teacher benefits. We do so through fundraising activities and events that serve to build upon the SJDL community and spirit. Equally important, the Association also organizes fundraising activities which provide academic scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend the School.
The Association does not act independently. It is an integral component of the school, which serves as a consultative or advisory organization for fundraising, community building activities, and other projects as requested by the school Administration. The Association does not seek to direct the Administration or to control its policies, procedures, or curriculum.
Grow by Serving Today!
As parents you are all members and you are encouraged to actively participate by attending the HSA monthly meetings, volunteering to assist with the many activities and events throughout the year, and/or contributing by other means such as your talents, services or donations as you feel appropriate.
We are asking that each family take a quick read and submit the HSA Volunteer Form by Friday, September 2.
Mark Your Calendars for HSA sponsored events (or check the school app calendar)!
- HSA Board Meeting: First Thursday of the month (with some exceptions). First meeting of the year is September 1 starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Library media room.
- Family Campout: Saturday, Sept. 17 (5:00 p.m. tent set-up) - Sept. 18 (9:00 a.m. tent take-down) Food truck(s), fun activities and smores. Registration opening soon!

Thank you for not asking the staff to access the Clothes Closet as they do not have the time to leave the office. *Please note that the September first Monday of the Month lands on Labor Day, so we will announce a new date to accommodate this change due to the holiday. Again, please contact Amy Nguen or Shelly Adams if you have any questions.
EVENT SOLD OUT
Clothes Closet News
Our back-to-school "fill a bag" sale was a big success! We were able to clear out a lot of inventory and now have room to accept more donations. If you have items to donate please bring them to the Front Office. The Clothes Closet will be open the first Monday of each month; however, the first Monday in September is Labor Day so there is no school. We are working on scheduling an alternative day and will announce it ASAP!
A few guidelines for "shopping" in the Clothes Closet:
- A maximum of 4 shoppers are allowed inside the Closet. We ask that you line up at the door and enter as someone exits.
- You may help yourself to all hanging items, as well as folded items in the cubbies. A Clothes Closet coordinator will help you with any items in boxes or bins.
- Please do not leave clothes on the floor or in the fitting room.
